School performance

The school has achieved a reputation for excellent academic results especially for a non-selective school. West Lodge has small classes and the teachers and staff have high expectations of all the children, which has led to a high success rate for children applying to Grammar Schools and Independent Schools.

% of pupils from Year 6 whose destination was a Grammar School 65 75
% of pupils from Year 6 whose destination was an Independent School 20 6
% of pupils from Year 6 whose destination was a Non-Selective School 15 19
% of pupils who achieved their first choice of school 95 94

West Lodge pupils last took SATS at the end of Year 6 in 2015 and the school has appeared in the The Times top one hundred prep schools for the past 4 years. As the pupils are now taking internal assessments, the school will not appear in this table in future. As the pupils are now not under the pressure of taking SATs at the end of Year 6 they can enjoy a broad, balanced, creative and stimulating curriculum in their last year at West Lodge which will give them confidence and excellent preparation for their transfer to secondary school.
