ISA Girls’ Football Festival - 2/10/19
On Wednesday 2nd October West Lodge organised its first Girls’ Football Festival with ten schools participating. Whilst the girls at West Lodge have played football for some time, this year we have introduced additional coaching sessions and there is much enthusiasm for the game. With this in mind, we organised the festival with the aim of giving as many girls as possible the chance to play. Whilst some teams were more experienced, some were playing their first matches and this added to the sense of enjoyment. West Lodge played well in their opening game against St Olaves, tackling wholeheartedly and creating several chances but unfortunately failed to score resulting in a drawn game. In the next match the team was convincingly beaten by a strong Rosemead team, who were the eventual runners up, but competed well. In a much longer final game Babbington House and West Lodge fought out a close and keenly contested match with West Lodge scoring through a good strike from Olivia, giving the girls a win in their final match. In a very close final between Merton Court and Rosemead, Merton Court were the deserving winners and congratulations go to them as winners of this fun festival. We look forward to further matches in the future and our thanks go to all of the teams who supported this event which was such an enjoyable afternoon of sport.
