Easter Bonnet Parade

What an exciting end of term Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 have had today! This morning’s Easter Bonnet Parade was spectacular with so many amazing creations. It was lovely to see how much input some children had had to their bonnets but a big THANK YOU also goes to parents and grandparents who have also obviously spent a lot of time and effort in helping to make the finished masterpieces.

Choosing winners and 2 children from each class to receive Highly Commended certificates was a difficult job but here are the 2018 top 3 from each class:

Thank you also to our fabulous Easter Bunny and the rest of the school for joining in with the Spring Chicken song with such gusto! Afterwards, Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1, Year 6 and the Easter Bunny all enjoyed the annual Easter egg hunt today. The younger children decorated their Easter baskets and had great delight in then hunting for them in the Quiet Garden and finding them filled with chocolate eggs! Thank you to Year 6 for doing such a great job and for the Easter Bunny again for your endless bounding about and ‘helpful clues!’

Easter Concert YR-3

Yesterday’s morning Easter concert involved solos from children in Reception to Year 3. All the children involved were excellent and it is no mean feat for a children as young as 4 to perform in front of so many people! Violinists, pianists and flautists played beautifully and with aplomb. Well done to all involved and keep practicing over the holidays!

Well done to all involved in last night’s concert. After a busy half term, it was phenomenal that the performances were so polished. Instrumentalists included such a broad range – violins, cellos, trumpets, trombone, piano, clarinets and flutes. Bravo to one and all and keeeeeeeeeep practising!

Year One Trip to the Royal Observatory, Greenwich

On Tuesday 20th March Year One went on a fantastic trip to the Royal Observatory. After a short journey on the coach, we spent time looking for signs of Spring which included the beautiful daffodils. After that, we headed to the Observatory where we first enjoyed a show in the Planetarium.  We visited the planets and the Moon and it was fascinating voyage through Space. After time spent in the galleries, and lunch, we took part in a workshop where we were Seasonal Explorers.  We even found out “the reason for the seasons!” It was a super day and the children’s behaviour was excellent throughout.  A lovely way to round off our topic of Space and the Moon Landing.

Key Stage Two Interhouse Cross Country

On Wednesday the 21st March, West Lodge had their first ever Key Stage Two Interhouse Cross Country event. "The atmosphere was absolutely amazing even though everyone was nervous." (Sam) First, Year 3 and 4 Girls and then Year 3 and 4 Boys ran around both fields at Sidcup Rugby Club once (approximately 1 kilometre). After, Year 5 and 6 Girls and then Year 5 and 6 Boys ran around both fields twice (approximately 2 kilometres) . "All four races were very intense" (Isabelle), but the results were as follows:

Congratulations to all of the individual winners. However, as Mr Francis stated when results were shared: This race is very much a team event with the average position being worked out for each house with the lowest average being the winners. Therefore, congratulations must go to St. Andrews, and as a result being the first ever winners of the Inter House Cross Country Cup. Well done to all runners, who all equally demonstrated perseverance and dedication. A massive thank you to staff and in particular to Miss Ayling and Mr McCabe for organising this inaugural event. Finally, thank you to those parents who turned up to support this new event.
