On Friday, the year six pupils had a sleepover at school. The evening began with games outside before a fabulous hour of entertainment from the superb (and energetic!) Mrs Orowale. The children then snuggled up in bed with pizza and juice to watch a film before lights out. After an extra-early start (we don't know how you all do it!) we enjoyed a delicious breakfast provided by some of our parents before the children went home. It was a lovely evening and it was great to see the year six pupils enjoying themselves.

Eltham College Maths Blast 2018

On Wednesday 27th June 2018, five children from Year 5 represented West Lodge wonderfully at the annual Eltham College Maths Blast. The boys took part in five rounds, which tested their mathematical knowlegde and problem solving skills, and they performed extremely well. Going into the highly anticipated final round known as "the relay", West Lodge were well placed to finish high up the leaderboard. Out of nine schools, West Lodge should be very proud of their 2nd place. Well done boys! A fantastic achievement!

Owls Visit 22.6.18

Earlier this week we had a visit from five owls and their handlers. We were treated to a  wonderful display from these beautiful birds and also learned how they live and hunt. Particularly impressive was the barn owl, which skimmed our heads in absolute silence as it crossed the hall. Following further demonstrations from the other owls, many of us had our photographs taken with the birds.

Year 6 Dragons Den 2018 - 21.6.18

On Thurs 21st June, Year Six entered the Dragons Den! In groups of one, two or three, the children had to present an invention of theirs to the dragons, namely Mrs Bastick, Mr Claggett and Mr Francis. They asked for money in return for a percentage stake in their company. Inventions ranged from translating dog collars to trainers with torches endorsed by Usain Bolt! The questioning was tough and the children had to think on their feet and show a lot of courage and confidence. This they did and several groups managed to secure some investment. Many congratulations to all the Year 6s. They still await the promised money!

On Wednesday 20th June West Lodge held their annual Sports Day event. The children were very excited whilst they made their way up to the rugby club for an afternoon of competitive yet fun races. It was a hot afternoon but that didn’t stop the children putting in 110% into their events. We saw children from Nursery to Year 6 take part in running races, obstacle relays, baton relays and a javelin event. All children worked brilliantly in their house teams, showing great teamwork and sportsmanship. The children were well behaved all afternoon and were a real credit to the school. Congratulations to St. Patrick for winning and retaining their crown!

Thank you very much for all your support on this eventful afternoon. Special thanks go to Mr Kang for organising a drinks tent for the children, parents and staff who help set up the event , Miss Ayling for her organisation and to Mr McCabe for all his hard work.
