Children learn about AI using real world AI applications; as well as developing their robotics skills

In the Autumn term the children started learning about the benefits of AI but also about the issues that are posed such as bias, false content and questions regarding its impact upon our learning.

These are significant ethical questions and it is our view that exposure to these issues at primary school will help the children to develop a balanced and sensible approach to the use of AI now and in the future.

This is being taught in a controlled and safe manner through the use of real-world AI applications using the AI Project created by the Raspberry Pi Foundation. The older children are also seeing the power of AI in using language models to check their coding work. These are advanced skills and it is exciting to see the children embracing these new tools.

Alongside the introduction of AI, the children are thoroughly enjoying combining their coding skills with robotics in using drones, hovercraft, cars and bubble machines.
