What our Parents Say
Children interviewed their parents about West Lodge School. Interspersed are written comments made by other parents with children at the school.
What opportunities have I had to learn outside the classroom?
Why did you choose West Lodge for us?
We researched many schools in the area, and we were struck by how much West Lodge feels like a home from home. It’s an engaging environment where everyone is kind and the children are well behaved.
What advantages do you think West Lodge brings us?
How has West Lodge helped our family?
The dynamic of the parent body is amazing; everyone is relatable. Everyone in school and the wider community is working for a common objective, to come together to help all of the children succeed; there is no hierarchy. The children all want each other to win.
How would you describe West Lodge to someone who had never been here before?
What's the food like at West Lodge?
All the children are promoted to be independent. For example, they are encouraged to run an assembly, organise and run a fundraiser, find out more about current affairs, perform the latest piece they have learnt in their instrumental lesson to the school in assembly etc. The children’s wellbeing has as much focus as their academic work.
What sport is on offer at West Lodge?
What values do you think we learn at school?
Each child is seen very much as an individual and the way that they are taught is tailored to their needs. Both our children have been taught by the same teachers at different times and been taught in very different ways – they recognise different approaches work for different children. West Lodge is certainly not a conveyor belt.
If you had to choose one word to describe West Lodge, what would it be?
