Sports Roundup - December 2023

Despite periods of very wet weather, it has been a successful term for our sports teams. Lots of children have participated in activities across the school, which is great to see, and it is always very pleasing when they perform well.

Our U11 netballers have enjoyed a fantastic start to the netball season, remaining undefeated in the competitive Bexley League and performing very well in the participation league. Convincing wins were achieved against Benedict House and Blackheath Prep and the team finished 2nd out of 10 teams at the Eltham College Festival. Teamwork, great interplay, movement and excellent shooting skills have been demonstrated in the matches played so far so we look forward to the second half of the season.

Year 1 and 2 children enjoyed a rugby training session with St Olaves several weeks ago and the U9s enjoyed a triangular afternoon of rugby with St Olaves and Merton Court, winning one game and losing the other. Year 5 and 6 enjoyed a similar triangular tournament playing Merton Court and St Olave’s Prep, winning all 4 games. Great teamwork, interplay and fun. Well done!

A large group of children took part in the Bexley Games athletics event at Townley School finishing 4th and our U11 girls’ footballers played really well at the Blackheath Festival remaining undefeated and finishing 3rd of 8 teams.

It’s great to see so many children having the chance to enjoy playing sport and at the same time representing their school.  We look forward to another busy term in January.
